Nampak goes to the movies
Ask any movie-goer what they love about the big screen and most will make some reference to the pleasure of tucking into a large box of hot, buttery popcorn. Thanks to a new innovation by Nampak Cartons & Labels, movie buffs are now able to enjoy the same popcorn experience in the comfort of their own homes.
Developed for Woolworths' own-brand of microwaveable popcorn, Nampak Cartons & Labels discarded the usual bag technology for a microwaveable carton that opens up to form a container, which is similar in shape to those used in cinemas.
The Nampak carton has a susceptor board tray as a base. The uncooked kernels are put in the tray and sealed with a grease proof lid. The tray is then placed inside the carton, which is delivered flat and displayed on-shelf in an attractive litho laminate display carton. Before microwaving, consumers erect the carton using two convenient built-in handles that form a nifty container. During the cooking process, the carton fills with the delicious snack.
Unlike many popcorn brands that are sold in microwaveable bags, the Nampak carton enables the popcorn to cook evenly and prevents burning, while the child-friendly removable lid allows for easy opening, negating the need for knives and scissors. The fact that the carton becomes a self-dispensing container also means that hungry consumers do not have to dirty bowls and dishes, but can munch their favourite movie snack directly from the carton.
In an era where home theatres are becoming a major trend and increasing numbers of people are choosing to watch the latest box office hits from the comfort of their living rooms, Nampak Cartons & Labels has made an exciting contribution towards enhancing the movie lovers' latest experience.
