Nampak Flexible adds more awards to its tally at SA’s first ever Fima Golden Roll Awards
Nampak Flexible, a division of Nampak, Africa’s largest packaging company, has received three awards at the first ever Fima Golden Roll Awards, held at the Silver Star Casino on the 9th of November this year. The awards, created by Fima, who specialise in the local production of Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP, [Status]), recognise the most original uses of Fima’s film in product packaging and labelling. The awards specifically honour those companies driving the innovative use of Fima film in construction, application and look across BOPP products.
Gold, Silver and Bronze Roll awards were awarded across various categories, with the Golden Clip Award being the overall prestigious prize. Not a company to accept anything less than the best, Nampak Flexible showed why they are widely known as Africa’s flexible packaging leader by winning the Golden Clip award for their Simba Sunbites pretzels packaging - a remarkable matt and gloss printed pack, produced through a single gravure process. Through the clever combination of print techniques, the Simba Sunbites pack was given funky, exciting three-dimensional effect graphics that have extended the brand into a younger target market, and made it a deserved overall winner. Testament to the pack’s quality, it also won a Gold Roll award in the ClearFlex/MetFlex category for clear film laminated to metalised film.
In the ClearFlex Category, Nampak Flexible also took home a Silver Roll award for their outstanding Willards Flanagan’s Kettle Fried Chips packaging produced for AVI. According to Gerald Chotu, Nampak Flexible’s Technical Director, Nampak Flexible and FIMA (previously Treophan, [Status]) have had a longstanding partnership and there is no doubt that this partnership will keep producing excellent results for both businesses. Already a winner of numerous awards in 2009/2010, and the holder of several highly rated accreditations, including HACCP and BRC, these awards are a clear indication of Nampak Flexible’s commitment to delivering more to customers and continuing to make a mark in the flexible packaging industry.
