Nampak Sacks cements top spot as Afrisam's Supplier of the Year
Nampak Sacks, the Nampak Group’s paper-based bag manufacturing division, was recently named Afrisam (South Africa, [Status])(Pty, [Status]) Ltd’s supplier of the year for 2010/2011. The prestigious award, received at a ceremony held in Johannesburg, is an indication of Nampak Sacks’ strategy and ability to maintain a superior standard of products and service at the highest level.
Craig Dingley, Nampak Sacks’ Managing Director, had this to say of the achievement: “Afrisam is our largest customer and to have won this award, competing against some major national brands, was a massive achievement for the team. It was a team effort focusing on quality and service - the two main drivers of our interaction with Afrisam. In addition, there is no doubt that the willingness of Afrisam and their positive response to our endeavours to partner with them and to extract value at various levels, also helped us to deliver improved service and quality. It is wonderful to have such a proactive customer.”
Leading up to Afrisam’s Supplier of the Year award, key suppliers are grouped into large/medium suppliers as well as QSE (Qualified Small Enterprises, [Status]) and EME (Exempt Medium Enterprises, [Status]) suppliers based on spend over a 12-month period. They are then assessed according to the following criteria:
• BEE Status
• Safety
• Account status
• Proactive collaboration
• Product and service quality
• Contribution to Afrisam's value adds through services such as product re-engineering etc
Suppliers are then evaluated across their various business units as well as their Shared Service Centre where, if they achieve a score of 80% or more, are regarded as an A Category supplier. Only “A” category suppliers are considered for nomination for the supplier of the year award for large/medium suppliers.
“We are very proud of this achievement, it has been the catalyst in our drive to once again improve our quality and service to Afrisam and beyond,” said Craig.
